Darfield St John cadets competed recently at the local St John’s Canterbury competitions, held in Lincoln. The cadets competing at senior level had an outstanding result, winning overall in the team competition for the mid-Canterbury district. The team was made up of Rebecca Inch, Samuel Ireland, Daisy Prosser and Bailey Inwood.
Jenny Walters won the senior individual competition and the intermediate team consisting of Jonathan Sampson, Bella Williamson, Annabella Rooney and Anitisha Pascoe were placed second. Darfield also had another senior individual and a junior team competing. They all achieved placings in tests, but not overall.
“All the Darfield cadets that attended were placed in one area of the competition, or another, which was awesome to see,” commented Victoria Tomes, Divisional Manager, Darfield Youth Division, St John. Teams attending competed in a range of activities, including but not limited to: First aid, Drill, Caregivers and Communication.
Both the senior and intermediate team will now head to Hanmer Springs to compete in the regional competition to be held at the end of September. Needless to say the teams are busy putting lots of practice for this upcoming competition.
