Successful Official Opening01.11.2018
By Lucinda Jarvis
West Melton Volunteer Rural Fire Force had their official opening of their new building on Friday, October 26th. This was the first rural station built since Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) came in to being last year, so this was an auspicious occasion. This was an invitation only event that had Tracey Martin, the Minister of Internal Affairs who FENZ reports to, along with other FENZ officials, other brigade members, also those that had been involved in the building and of course the important West Melton Volunteer Fire Fighters. It was reported to have been an successful opening with speeches by all the Ministers. There is going to be a public open day in the future so the general public can head along and have a look around.
