Trio Dances To Success16.05.2019
Over the school holidays Tara Marshall Dance World’s (TMDW) Performance Dancers were kept busy competing in competitions in Christchurch. They took to the stage in the JT Dancers competition held at Riccarton High School and the C.T.D.T.A (Christchurch Tap Dance Teachers Association) competition held at Villa Maria.
While all students did the School proud a special mention goes to TMDW’s three Performance Boys; Eddie Adams, Liam Morris and Barnaby Maude. The boys took out first place with their Hip Hop trio at both competitions!
At the JT Dancers’ event the boys were in a tough class competing in an any-age solo duo or trio. The Boys’ trio were up against eleven other incredible dances, of a mixed variety. The Boys took out first place with 87 points. The judges loved their costume, strong physicality and well suited choreography. In this same competition both Barnaby and Eddie competed in Hip Hop Solos where Barnaby placed third and Eddie placed fourth.
At the second competition C.T.D.T.A the boys took out first place again with a score of 85.5. The judges loved their style, energy and tricks!
Barnaby and Eddie are in their seventh year at TM Dance World and Liam is in his eighth year. They are involved in the Senior Hip Hop Highlights programme which sees them train in the TMDW studio in Hip Hop and Acrobatics weekly. The boys are a part of the School’s Senior Hip Hop Performance Team and they sit Hip Hop examinations annually. This year Barnaby and Eddie are training to sit Level 6 while Liam is training to sit Level 8!
The Boys’ trio, choreographed by studio Director Tara McKeown, has seen them win numerous awards. In 2018 they placed first in several competitions, as well as winning the Darfield High School and Ellesmere College combined Talent Quest. Tara is looking forward to having the boys dance in the Showcase National Dance Championships held in Christchurch in January 2020 – a nice way to finish off another successful competition season.
I love seeing these three guys dance – they all have their own individual style but they work amazingly together. We always work to create a high-energy, strong, fun, routine for their audience!
Who said Boys couldn’t dance?!
